Alëna Shornikova

Her practice is rooted in an attentiveness to everyday life. Through choreography, poetry, and sculpture, she explores how memory is carried in the body, how ordinary gestures and encounters shape our relationships, and how language and material hold the traces of lived experience. Her poems extend this inquiry through observation and reflection, tracing the fragile space between memory and the present moment.

Born in Moscow, Alëna completed her professional dance training and studied theatre directing before moving to Germany in 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cologne University of Music and Dance and a Master of Arts in Dance Composition (Interpretation) from the Folkwang University of the Arts (2021). Her artistic practice has been shaped by international collaborations and research, including a scholarship for an internship with the Vertigo Dance Company in Israel in 2018.

Alëna Shornikova ist eine multidisziplinäre Künstlerin, die an der Schnittstelle von Tanz, Poesie und Bildender Kunst arbeitet.
Ihre künstlerische Praxis folgt den Spuren, die Erfahrungen hinterlassen, und den Weisen, wie diese weiterhin den Körper, das Gedächtnis und den Alltag prägen. Sie versteht Choreografie, Poesie und Skulptur als unterschiedliche Ausdrucksformen einer fortlaufenden künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung.
Geboren in Moskau, absolvierte Alëna ihre professionelle Tanzausbildung und studierte Theaterregie, bevor sie 2013 nach Deutschland zog. Sie erwarb einen Bachelor of Fine Arts an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln sowie 2021 einen Master of Arts in Dance Composition (Interpretation) an der Folkwang Universität der Künste. Ihre künstlerische Praxis wurde durch internationale Kooperationen und Forschungsprojekte geprägt, darunter ein Stipendium für ein Praktikum bei der Vertigo Dance Company in Israel im Jahr 2018.

Alëna lebt und arbeitet in Köln.
