Alëna Shornikova is a multidisciplinary artist who currently lives in Cologne. Born and raised in a Russian-Ukrainian family in Moscow. In 2012 she graduated from the Moscow College of Arts with a major in Dance.

In addition, she studied theater directing at the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts.

In 2013 Alëna moved to Germany, where she continued her Dance Journey. Alëna holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cologne University of Music and Dance and her Master of Arts in Dance Composition (Interpretation) from the Folkwang University of Arts (2021).

In 2018 she received a scholarship for an Internship in the Vertigo Dance Company in Israel. 

Alëna has performed, collaborated, and trained with artists such as: Kosro Adibi, Dafi Altabeb, Noa Wertheim, Adi Sha’al, Keren Bigon Horesh, Inbal Aloni Debi, Yael Cibulski, Didier Theron, Michèle Murray, Sita Ostheimer, Rodolfo Leoni, Henrietta Horn, Ale Jara, Reut Shemesh.

As a dancer, she has worked for the Cologne Opera (2016-2018), TdK Düsseldorf (2019) and Theater Marl (2021), among others.

Alëna has performed both in her home country and internationally.

In 2022, began a collaboration with the classical composer Bomi Hwang: Music and Dance as support for people suffering from cancer.

In July 2022, Alëna led an artist-in-residence program for Ukrainian artists.

Alëna currently works as a freelance dancer with various artists both in Germany and abroad.

Besides her artistic practice, she is a certified teacher of Yoga and Meditation.
